Should I have an American Girl doll?

My mother promised me a year ago instead of ordering me a doll-American they go to the bank in Chicago or New York. oh and she said she will take school ends next summer. what age is to old to get one? and is it worth? and if you had a quantity not yours cost (including all acessories like the bed, clothes, etc.) if Please list what items you bought and how much everything.? and any other things you may need to add please do. thank you:) Sorry if it seems im asking a lot. idk if WHO has responded read this but I agree with all so I can not choose a best answer but thank you and yes ill still go to New York to see Times Square and ill be in the same way and get really cool playing with him for about a month or less and losing something somewhere. thank you for help.

you should definitely get one, they are the best around dolls and u are never to old for I even find my mom 37 years dressing my age when she cleans my room
